Welcome to Dolce Vita
Our private, two home vacation rental is in charming and quaint Bucerias, Mexico. Our Dolce Vita and its wonderful location on a cobblestone street, a half-block from the beach, is wonderful and our guests think so as well!
Dolce Vita is located on Calle Lazaro Cardenas, a half block from the sandy beach and the Bay of Banderas in the “Golden Zone” of Bucerias.
Dolce Vita is made up of two homes, one with two bedrooms (Dolce Vita II– occupancy of four) and the casita, with one bedroom (Dolce Vita I- occupancy of two). The casita is located across the pool from the casa. Guests can rent either home separately, or they can be rented together which is a perfect arrangement for a family group or three couples. The entire area is enclosed by a gated wall for security and privacy.
Calle Lazaro Cardenas is a Mexican cobblestone street and our homes are situated on this street in what many say is the best area of Bucerias. Guests have repeatedly said that Dolce Vita is in a wonderful location. We are surrounded by a huge variety of restaurants, shops, and art galleries. Guests can take a short walk down the street and over the “Kissing Bridge” to Bucerias Centro, with its traditional Mexican square, lovely church, shops, a local street market, and dozens of restaurants of all types. Bucerias has retained the flavor of old Mexico and is a very authentic beach town.
Our homes are located a half block from the white sandy beach, just a short three-minute walk. Gather up the provided beach chairs and cooler and walk on down to see the clean and clear ocean and the seven-mile-long beach. The beach, especially near us, is usually only spotted with people so you can enjoy a calm and relatively quiet beach experience. Many times you can spot whales and dolphins from the beach and there are always pelicans as well as local fisherman out in their boats.
Many ask if a car is a necessity while staying at Dolce Vita. While occasionally nice to have, we do not feel that it is necessary to rent a car. We do have off-street parking for one car if you decide to rent one, and there is also street parking in front. On foot you can reach a mini-super (Mary Paz) just two minutes away where you can buy just about everything you might need. In addition, there are fruit and veggie shops in Bucerias as well as fish and meat markets. Delicious bakeries abound. All of these places are accessible by foot and are fun to go to for food and goodies. For larger shopping needs, it is easy to take the local bus to Mega Supermarket, a large grocery store just five minutes away on the bus. It is easy and entertaining to ride the Mexican buses, and it is a close walk to the bus stop from Dolce Vita to get on a bus which will take you to points north and south, of course including Puerto Vallarta.
Dolce Vita II(DV2) is our two-bedroom, two and a half bath home with a thatched rooftop palapa. Our homes have a Mexican flair and were designed by a well-known Mexican architect. There is lovely varnished, dark wood trim throughout both homes. We, as owners, have collected and display artwork from several local artisans. In Dolce Vita II, there is a large mural painted on the wall by Daniel, a beach artist from Puerto Vallarta. Many of our guests, after staying in our homes, say that our online photos do not do our homes justice!
Dolce Vita II’s first floor has a well-equipped kitchen with a breakfast bar. Bottled water is provided in the kitchen as well as on the second floor bedroom level. The large kitchen window overlooks the street, where you can watch local vendors daily selling their goods-watermelon, strawberries, pastries. If you are lucky you might become part of a local holiday celebration and a Mexican parade that goes by right out front.
In addition to the kitchen on the first floor, there is a dining area seating four and a living room area with comfortable seating and a flat-screen TV with local cable and a small DVD collection. Both the dining and living areas open up through French doors directly onto the pool patio area. A convenient half bath completes the first floor. two robust ceiling fans keep the entire first floor cool.
Going upstairs in Dolce Vita II, using the lovely, handcrafted railing, you find two bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom with a queen bed and large closet, has an ensuite Mexican tiled bathroom. There are unique wall “sculptures” built into the interior and exterior walls of the property. The master bedroom wall features one of these, a large conch shell. Screened French doors lead outside to a large covered porch with a view and sounds of the ocean. A “coffee corner” on the porch is the perfect spot for your morning coffee and cinnamon roll (go to the restaurant Sweet Things for their awesome pastries!).
Dolce Vita II’s second bedroom, also with a large closet and queen bed, also opens up onto the covered porch through screened French doors. This bedroom features a starfish sculpture on the wall. Each bedroom has beautiful locally made onyx bedside table lamps. The second bedroom has a full, Mexican tiled bathroom right outside the bedroom door.
To get to the third-floor roof-top palapa, you ascend the stairs under a beautifully bricked cupola with hanging stars that can be illuminated at night. The full roof-top deck has nearly a 360 degree view of Banderas Bay, the town, and the neighboring Sierra Madre Mountains. On the palapa, there is a thatch-roofed dining area for four people complete with a refrigerator and grill, as well as a sunbathing area on the other side. The stars are beautiful from the rooftop at night.
Across the pool is Dolce Vita I(DV1), the casita, which is perfect for two people. It is one story and handicapped accessible. It features a full kitchen and dining area with ocean views. The bedroom has a large closet and a queen bed. Both the living room area (with cable TV and DVD player) and the bedroom open up through screened French doors directly onto the pool patio. In addition to the seating areas around the pool, the casita has a separate palapa deck behind the house with ocean views and sounds of the surf.
The two homes share a crystal clear, cobalt blue-tiled pool with pool lights for evening swims. The pool area is surrounded by lush, green plants creating a tropical feel. There are recliners around the pool for relaxation, as well as umbrella tables and chairs for outside dining. Enjoy a meal of fresh veggies and locally caught fish barbequed on the Weber grill.
Consider coming to Bucerias and staying in our homes during the summer months of May through October. Then the place is slow. The restaurants and shops are less crowded and the beaches are empty. It is also a lot less expensive –money goes further! Enjoy a Mexican summer vacation!
We consider ourselves very lucky to have a wonderful Mexican man, Jorge, as our property caretaker. He will personally greet you, and he will help you settle in. He can guide you in your restaurant selection and give you tour suggestions, or help you find medical care in the unfortunate case you need it. He can arrange for transportation or even find a chef to come to Dolce Vita and cook up a feast for you. He is easily and readily available as he lives and works right next door.
Come and stay with us at Dolce Vita and enjoy the ambiance of Bucerias, with its cobblestone streets and sandy beach, delicious food, friendly folks, gorgeous flowers and marvelous culture. You will be glad to be here!.
